What else is Happening at the Thrifty Quaker
A Place the Midlothian Community can be proud of
At The Thrifty Quaker we try to practice a core Quaker belief: "There is that of God in everyone". To that end we are always eager to cherish and strengthen the spirit of Love and Light in each person. So, from time to time, you will notice we do more than our core mission of:
- Supporting recycling through the collection of thrift items
- Providing funds to worthy charities
- Giving one-time financial assistance to individuals who are recommended by trusted sources
Take a look at these other programs we currently have that help people in our community. Consider how you might be able to help.
Accommodate One-time effortsOccasionally, The Thrifty Quaker is asked by store patrons for assistance in their efforts to provide relief to local individuals who are suffering from life events - such as a house fire, homelessness, a natural disaster, or other unusual needs. Should you find yourself involved in such assistance, ask to speak to the store manager, who will work with you to provide what is needed. Of course, verification of the relief effort is needed in order to prevent scamming.

Volunteering at the 'TQ'We need volunteers in order to keep our expenses as low as possible, so we can provide the most funding possible to the charities we support each month. Volunteers are always cherished and we make every effort to provide you with tasks that you will enjoy doing. Regular volunteers receive a 20% discount on any full-priced items they purchase. Simply ask one of our associates how you can become a Thrifty Quaker volunteer!

PROVIDing ITEMS TO OTHER CHARITIESThe Thrifty Quaker routinely makes arrangements with other local charities to provide them our unsold goods so they can also help those in need. We have done this since the day we opened in September of 1996. Since then, we have distributed millions of dollars worth of thrift items free of charge to any charity that is dedicated to helping others.
