What else is Happening at the Thrifty Quaker

A Place the Midlothian Community can be proud of

At The Thrifty Quaker  we try to practice a core Quaker belief: "There is that of God in everyone". To that end we are always eager to cherish and strengthen the spirit of Love and Light in each person.  So, from time to time, you will notice we do more than our core mission of:
  • Supporting recycling through the collection of thrift items
  • Providing funds to worthy charities
  • Giving one-time financial assistance to individuals in dire need

For example, we have partnered with Amazon.com so any purchase you make at Amazon will generate Amazon to donate a small portion of their profits to Friend$hare.  It is a charity associated with The Thrifty Quaker; both are part of the non-profit corporation: Quaker Thrift Store Inc.  100% of any money given to Friend$hare is used to provide one-time financial assistance to people who are in danger of losing their housing, health, utilities, or other emergency needs.  Just click on the button to the right to access the AmazonSmile website and begin shopping at Amazon to provide emergency financial assistance to people in desperate need at NO COST TO YOU.

Take a look at these other programs we currently have that help people in our community, and consider how you might be able to help

Back Packs of Love

We are partnering with Back Packs of Love, a charity that is dedicated to feeding hungry local children who need meals when not in school.  You can help by dropping off at The Thrifty Quaker single portion packaged food items that can be opened without a can-opener.  Or, you can make a monetary contribution to Back Packs of Love at The Thrifty Quaker.

Volunteering at the 'TQ'

We need volunteers in order to keep our expenses as low as possible, so we can provide the most funding possible to the charities we support each month.  Volunteers are always cherished and we make every effort to provide you with tasks that you will enjoy doing.  Regular volunteers receive a 20% discount on any full-priced items they purchase.  Simply ask one of our associates how you can become a Thrifty Quaker volunteer!

We PROVIDE ITEMS TO OTHER CHARITIES

The Thrifty Quaker  routinely makes arrangements with other local charities to provide them our unsold goods so they can also help those in need. We have done this since the day we opened in September of 1996. Since then, we have distributed millions of dollars worth of thirft items free of charge to any charity that is dedicated to helping others.
